What "free" actually means here
Sixty minutes of transcription per calendar month. That is roughly two lectures, three or four interviews, or a week of short meetings. The allowance resets on the first of the month.
The free tier is not a reduced version of the product: it uses the same transcription model, the same speaker labelling and the same real-time console as the paid plans. The only difference is how much of it you get.
If you need more, Pro is $29 a month for twelve hours. If you do not, stay on free indefinitely — there is no expiry.

Is it really free?
Yes — sixty minutes of transcription every month, with no credit card and no trial that quietly expires. If you need more than that, the paid plans exist; if you do not, the free tier is not a countdown to anything.
What is the catch?
The limit is the catch, and it is stated up front: sixty minutes a month. There is no watermark, no reduced accuracy on the free tier, and no card required to start.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It runs in a browser tab. Sign in with Google, allow the microphone, and press record.
What happens to my audio?
It is streamed for transcription while you record and is never stored on our servers afterwards. The transcript is yours.
What happens when I run out?
Recording stops and your allowance resets at the start of the next month. Nothing is deleted and no charge appears.
